is there an autosave feature for pages on the Mac desktop app?

I'm running Monterey 12.3.1 and I can't seem to find the ability to autosave my pages doc when using the Pages for Mac desktop app - when I look at it on iCloud.com I can see the "saving icon" so I know it's not a connection issue & my vpn is off

Autosave is enabled automatically by Pages for Mac once you apply the first manual save to any document. Your only indication that autosave is working will be the clear red traffic light in your open document, and otherwise, it may appear as this:

indicating content pending save. However, autosave occurs about every 10 seconds or less on a local drive when adding new content, and up to twice that if you are writing to iCloud from the Mac. There are non-Apple filesystems, network shares, and cloud services where autosave cannot function, and it may inform you of that calamity.

Autosave Pages documents. Is there a way—even third-party—to automatically save documents in Pages? Perhaps all changes all the time, like in Google's apps, or on a schedule, such as every 10 minutes. Pages does crash every once in a while, and I would like to avoid losing significant work. Pages doesn't seem able to do this, and I see nothing in either Shortcuts or Automator that might autosave Pages documents. But surely others have this need as well. Any ideas? Thanks!

This is annoying! In former versions of MacOS I already deactivated that weird auto save feature. But after updating to MacOS Monterey the setting was already activated by Apple. Any ideas how I can leave an opened document untouched when using the "Save as . " feature? And any ideas how to prevent from changing that weird auto save feature in future updates?

auto save option for Pages documents? Is there a way to auto save documents I'm typing in Pages as I go. Years ago, I recall my Mac was able to do this--eg save my text every several minutes or perhaps at an interval I designated. Sometimes I get wrapped up in typing and forget to save. I've had a family member (or cat) inadvertently delete my text before I've saved it
